Olongapo city gov't acquires 22 Haima FStar minivans
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO-The city government of Olongapo under the stewardship of Mayor James "Bong" Gordon Jr. has acquired 22 units of Haima FStar Hunda minivans in a bid to further boost the delivery of vital services at the grassroots level.
The units were delivered to city government last December 5 by executives of Haima Automobile Philippines and Haima Cars Pampanga led by Donald Calma, HAP general manager.
The minivans, bearing the slogan "Team Gordon Helps" were turned over in simple ceremonies by Calma and company to Gordon in the presence of his wife Ann, members of the city council and other officials at the Rizal Triangle Center Multipurpose Center.
"Helps" stands for "Housing, Education, Livelihood, Peace and Order and Sports and Social Service", Gordon's platform for good governance and promoting socio-economic welfare for Olongapo residents.
The units were subsequently distributed to 17 barangays and to five city departments.
In a statement, Gordon said the purchase of the 22 units will help in provideing the quality of service his constituents needs.
"The Haima FStar Hunda comes with a very economical price and quality features that suit our requirement." said Gordon, who has recently won for the city government the "Seal of Good Housekeeping" from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Olongapo City barangay chairmen Conrado Viray Jr. of New Asinan and Zar Batapa of Banicain, two of the 17 barangay recipients, said their units will be used for nightly monitoring and emergency cases.
"These are tailored-fit for our requirements at the barangay level," they said.
Calma, for his part, said the Haima FStar Hunda is perfect for government for choosing FStar," he said.
The FStar Hunda is Haima's first model of the FStar series which was introduced last year. With its spacious and roomy interior, this 1.0 liter efficient engine is configured to a Euro IV compliant standard.? The model has been widely used as technical support service, touring vehicles, media mobile, service units for business and as government utility vehicle.
"It's a minivan that can be counted on when it comes to both functionality and efficiency," Calma assured.
Haima Cars Pampanga and Haima Automobile Philippines are affiliates of the Laus Auto Group, considered the biggest auto dealership in the country today.
